Our Pool, Our Rules – Why I Won’t Quit Swimming for the Neighbor

Swimming has been my daily freedom and joy for years. I cherish every moment in our backyard pool—it’s my way to relax, stay fit, and find peace. Recently, a new neighbor moved in, and they openly expressed hatred for my swimming noise and presence. They demanded I stop using the pool during certain hours, but it’s my property, and I’m not willing to sacrifice my routine just because they dislike it.

We set clear boundaries early on, explaining that the pool is ours to enjoy. I’ve even installed a keypad lock to control access, ensuring strangers or disruptive visitors don’t intrude. Our rules are simple: swim times are based on our schedule, respecting the neighborhood, but ultimately our pool, our rules.

Despite their complaints, I refuse to let their negativity dictate how we live. Swimming isn’t just exercise; it’s therapy for me. I’ve tried to explain that to them calmly, but they persist, always finding new reasons to object. This battle isn’t about the water—it’s about controlling our lives.

Living next to difficult neighbors is never easy, but standing firm on what’s ours is necessary for peace of mind. We’re polite but unyielding. The pool gives me joy and resilience, and I’m determined to keep swimming on my terms, no matter what they say.
